{"id":3903,"date":"2022-06-30T11:40:55","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T11:40:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/turismo.berchules.es\/?post_type=que_hacer&#038;p=3903"},"modified":"2026-10-07T06:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T06:57:10","slug":"access-to-the-sulayr-trail","status":"publish","type":"que_hacer","link":"https:\/\/turismo.berchules.es\/en\/que_hacer\/access-to-the-sulayr-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"Access to the Sulayr trail."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">This route is designed to guide you from the village of B\u00e9rchules to the starting point of Section 7\u2014which runs from Loma del Lastonar to Trev\u00e9lez\u2014traversing the high-mountain terrain of B\u00e9rchules.\n\n\"Sulayr\"\u2014meaning \"Mountain of the Sun\"\u2014is the name the Arabs gave to the Sierra Nevada, and it was chosen for Spain's longest circular trail.\n\nReviving the ancient name of Sulayr has also meant rescuing countless mountain paths from oblivion. Following these routes\u2014which weave across the mid-mountain slopes between the peaks and the villages\u2014we will traverse 300 kilometers around this unique mountain. We will walk along muleteer tracks and forestry paths\u2014traditional trails used by the various cultures that settled in the foothills and lived within the Sierra.\n\nIt is a circular trail that encircles the entire Sierra Nevada massif at an average elevation of 1,800 to 2,000 meters. The route crosses ridges and ravines, forests and meadows that serve as habitats for numerous plant and animal species, and where traces of past agricultural and livestock farming activities can still be found.
