Aben-Aboo was the last of the Morisco kings, having usurped and killed his cousin Aben-Humeya. However, his reign, like that of his cousin, lasted just 10 months, from July 1570 to May 1571. Legend has it that Aben-Aboo was pursued by the troops of King Philip II to Tajo del Reyecillo, where his horse leapt over the river, leaving its hoof-prints on a stone on the opposite bank. The area in which this stone was found is known locally as La patá, or “the Kick”.
