This mirador (viewpoint) is located just above the village, at the old era or threshing floor of La Platera. Threshing floors are usually paved circular spaces located in areas exposed to the wind. Farmers used them for two essential activities: Trilla (threshing), and aventado (winnowing), in which the grain was separated from the chaff so that it could be stored for processing.
As these activities are no longer carried out, the old threshing floors have been given a new use – in this instance, as a viewpoint. From here you can enjoy spectacular views over Bérchules, Alcútar, Cádiar and the mountains.
